With roaring engines and stunning motorcycle stunts, the Garcia Thrill Riders put on an exciting show for the crowd at East Point City on New Year's Eve. The performers, a family of three - father Leo, mother Getti and son Maximus Garcia - added to the mall's festive atmosphere.
One of the highlights of the show was the Globe of Death. It is a globe with a diameter of around 3 metres in which the stunt riders hurtled round and round at speeds of more than 100 kilometres per hour.
When Leo and Getti were both in there, the slightest mistake could have resulted in serious injuries, but years of practice ensured a flawless show.
Another highlight was the performance by six-year-old Maximus. Despite his young age, Maximus was a fearless rider, whizzing around the globe at speed. To ensure his safety, Leo was on hand offering guidance.
Leo says the most memorable performance of his life was when his son first performed with him in a theme park in the United States at the age of four.
'As a father I always hoped my child would grow up doing what I do, and seeing my son riding a motorcycle in the globe like I did was something that I really treasure,' says Leo. 'I am really proud of Maximus.'
Both Leo and Getti come from a circus family and have been performing all their lives. Their son seems to have inherited their talent. At the age of two he could ride a bicycle and at four he learned how to ride a motorcycle after receiving a mini-motorcycle from his parents for his birthday.
