Students of German Swiss International School (GSIS) celebrated Christmas with a fun fair to help raise funds for Operation Santa Claus (OSC).

On December 17, the school's Community Involvement Group, along with other school organisations, set up a series of fund-raising events.

Heather Pickerell, president of the school's Community Involvement Group, called OSC 'one of the biggest fund-raising events in our school'.

She said the aim of the activities was both to raise funds and to provide some fun for the students.

'The school prefects were in charge of a sausage sizzler ... and one of our teachers dressed up as Santa Claus and students donated money to have pictures taken with him,' said Heather. 'The school band and choir are giving performances and the donation box will be passed around during the show.'

In other fund-raising activities, for HK$20 students were offered the opportunity to write greetings to school mates on the windows along the corridor, and there was also face painting and a speed-eating competition.

Heather said: 'This year's aim is to raise HK$10,000. It is not a very big amount but, with so many school mates getting together to set it up, it has been a great success. The students showed they cared about the community.'
