MAC's Dame Edna Lipglass Lip Gloss (HK$125, above left) is suitable for those with pale skin who favour frosted colours. It also gives a creamy coat of gloss. It is one item in a new collection based on the eclectic shades favoured by fictional Australian housewife Dame Edna Everage, a character created by comedian Barry Humphries. Anna Sui's Spring collection, Love Under the Sun, features three portable powder blushes (HK$210, above centre) made of pearlescent particles of crystals blended into a moisturising formula. Larger-sized crystal particles means the pigment should stay on skin for longer. The best part is the iconic black lacquer compact. Chanel's Bohemian Fantasy collection has a unique, limited-edition lip compact, Levres Signees Chanel (HK$415), which would make an ideal gift, but is also almost too well put together to use. The familiar Chanel rings logo creates the lipstick within the compact, and it won't be long before it's all gone - all over your fingers, that is. The lipsticks, however, are as hydrating as ever. Philip B's new Maui Wowie Beach Mist (HK$220/150ml ) has a very subtle, summery scent despite using sea salt and algae extracts. It aims to give limp locks volume without heaviness. Not sure if there is a long-lasting, deeply creamy and versatile wintry lipstick out there? YSL comes to the rescue. Try the Rouge Volupte in Sweet Honey (HK$195), a go anywhere nude for day and night. If you're going somewhere chilly for Lunar New Year, don't forget your long-suffering lips. Try Kiehl's Lip Balm No 1 (HK$75/15ml, above right). It protects and relieves, tastes natural and soothes (it's good for men too). It's one item in the brand's handy travel kit.
