Remember that whole acid jazz scene? Well, one of its biggest proponents was Gilles Peterson. In addition to launching the music labels Talkin' Loud, Acid Jazz and Brownswood Recordings, Peterson was instrumental in mixing jazz, hip hop and soul in a retro yet modern flavour, giving rise to such artists as Jamiroquai, Brand New Heavies and The Young Disciples. Well, the DJ is back doing what he first started. That is, DJing parties. The Englishman will be in Hong Kong on Friday for a jam at the Kee Club. The DJ Gilles Peterson WorldWideSession will start after 11pm, but as this is the Kee Club, it's members only. However, if you ask really nicely or know someone who works for the booze sponsor Belvedere Vodka, maybe they'll add you to the guest list. For info, call 2810 9000.
