Taiwan's top-earning model-turned-actress Lin Chi-ling, who stars in director John Woo Yu-sum's Red Cliff 2, has had her part dubbed over after critics rubbished her for sounding child-like and speaking too softly.

Lin (left), who stars as Xiao Qiao, the wife of Zhou Yu (Tony Leung Chiu-wai), in the two-part epic came under fire after Red Cliff was released in July last year.

Her voice was criticised as being out of character with the strong-minded Xiao and consequently dubbed over for the war epic's second instalment.

Lin, who was in town for Red Cliff 2's promotion this week, admitted she was saddened she couldn't use her own voice.

'I'm disappointed because it means I'm not able to fully to portray Xiao Qiao as I think she should be,' Lin said.

The actress, 34, said she would continue to pursue a career in films despite the setback. 'I've never given much thought to the way I speak, but I don't believe it's going to hold me back from playing other roles - I won't allow it to affect my career,' she said, adding that she planned to take vocal training classes to strengthen and improve her delivery.
