Demons and humans cohabit in Yozakura Quartet, and it's up to four teenagers to keep an eye on the monstrous movements in their city. Yozakura Quartet is a 12-episode supernatural anime series based on the manga of the same name.
The creator, Suzuhito Yasuda, was previously the original character designer for Yoshikazu Kuwashima's Kamisama Kazoku (God Family) anime. Taking up anime production is Nomad who has previously worked on Honey and Clover, Pumpkins Scissors and the three Rozen Maiden series.
The manga version has also been translated into English by Del Ray Manga and the first three volumes are available in Hong Kong, with volume four due out in April.
In a town called Sakurashin, seven magical pillars connect the human and yokai (demon) dimensions. It is the one place from which yokais can return to their own world. Many demons come to the town to avoid persecution from less understanding humans.
The Hiizumi Life Counselling Office was set up to help new immigrant yokais adjust to life in Sakurashin. The office is staffed by four teenagers all with unique skills ranging from super strength to psychic abilities. As well as helping yokais settle in, the teens protect the town from supernatural threats, like malevolent yokais.
Now a mischievous fox yokai looks to disrupt the peace of Sakurashin by destroying the seven pillars. It's up to the Hiizumi Life Counselling Officers to find a way to thwart his evil plans.
