A New York City seafood restaurant has released a 140-year-old, 10kg lobster, after letters from animal rights group, People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (Peta). The ancient crustacean was gently put back to sea off the coast of Maine, after being trapped in a small tank where it was doomed to be boiled alive. According to Peta, lobsters have sophisticated nervous systems and high sensitivity to pain, making the cooking process extremely painful for the creatures.
