A court acquitted a father and daughter accused of laundering HK$200 million in proceeds from illegal bets on racing and soccer. Deputy Judge Josiah Lam Wai-kuen said prosecutors had failed to prove a so-called Monday-Thursday theory - based on high levels of bank transfers on those days - on which the case had partly been based. Lau Kam-shui, 62, had been charged with three counts and his daughter, Lau Pui-ling, 36, one count of dealing with illicit property.
