Martial arts action meets slapstick comedy in new romantic anime comedy Asu no Yoichi.

The manga on which it's based is written and illustrated by Yu Minamoto, and serialised in the anthology magazine Monthly Shonen Champion. The anime began airing in Japan on January 8 on the Tokyo Broadcasting System channel. Animation production is being handled by AIC, responsible for shows like Gun X Sword, Solty Rei and Seto no Hanayome.

Yoichi has been living in the Japanese mountains with his father all his life, undergoing intense martial arts and kendo training.

One day his father tells him he must go out into the world and gain life experience and train his heart. But the real reason Yoichi is sent away is that he has gotten so strong, he has surpassed his father, who has nothing left to teach him.

Yoichi is a practitioner of the Ukiha Kamikaze sword style, so he is sent to live with family friends who practice the same sort of kendo. The Ikaguras are four young sisters who live on their own after their parents went overseas to work. They arrange to meet Yoichi at a mall.

Having only lived in the mountains, Yoichi doesn't know how to behave in an urban setting. While at the mall, he witnesses a purse-snatching and pursues the thief. As he gives chase, he bumps into each of the sisters in turn, without knowing who they are. He says or does something unsuitable to each of them, causing them to think he's being rude.
