Interpol puts Macau chief's relative on wanted list in graft scandal

A relative of Macau Chief Executive Edmund Ho Hau-wah is wanted by Interpol in the city's biggest graft scandal.

The international police organisation has issued a 'red notice' for Chan Lin-ian - brother-in-law of Mr Ho's brother - over suspected money laundering.

A red notice signals the person concerned is wanted by national jurisdictions and Interpol will help national police forces identify and locate him with a view to arresting and extraditing him. The Interpol website says Macau has issued an arrest warrant for Mr Chan, 53.

The South China Morning Post reported in April last year that Mr Chan had been implicated in the corruption case of Ao Man-long.

Ao was a former public works minister who was jailed for 27 years on 57 counts of bribe-taking, money laundering, abuse of power and other charges.

Interpol has issued a red notice for Mr Chan's wife, Lam Man-i, also suspected of money laundering.
