Victims and relief workers from the devastating May 12 Sichuan earthquake yesterday gave Hong Kong a glimpse of their perseverance and optimism.

The delegation included child amputees and a rehabilitated bride, who visited Ocean Park and exchanged experiences with local journalists who covered the disaster.

Ten-year-old Tang Yujie, from Mianzu , who lost her left hand during the quake, told of her joy to see dolphins for the first time. 'I saw dolphins, sharks and jellyfish. I like dolphins most,' she said.

Another survivor, Xia Fengting, nine, said she was thankful for those who helped. She was trapped under rubble for 28 hours and her right arm had to be amputated. 'I am especially grateful to uncles and aunties in Hong Kong. They have made an artificial arm for me,' the girl from Dujiangyan said.

The pair were among more than 10 visitors who arrived in Hong Kong on Saturday for a four-day trip. They were invited to visit the city by the Hong Kong government.

Electricity station worker Wang Qian, 26, was in town with her husband on a 'honeymoon trip' three months after they married.

'Nowadays technology is advanced and I don't feel I am different from other people after having an artificial leg fitted. I am very confident that I will be able to stand up,' Ms Wang said from a wheelchair as she practised walking with her artificial right leg.
