Primary pupils put their creative talent to the test on January 3. They took part in a hydro-powered rocket-firing competition jointly organised by the Boys' and Girls' Clubs Association of Hong Kong and the Sha Tin District National Education Committee. Baptist (STW) Lui Ming Choi Primary School won the competition. Association supervisor Tsang Kwong-yuen said the competition aimed to give Hong Kong youth a glimpse of the development of aerospace technology on the mainland. 'We want to educate children about the mainland's aerospace technology, and hydro-powered rocket launching is a fun way to develop their interest,' he said. The competition took place at HKTA Shun Yeung Primary School's baseball field. More than 120 primary school students from 14 schools in the New Territories took part. Participants had five minutes to launch a water rocket no longer than 1 metre in length at a target 40 metres away. The rocket made by Lui Ming Choi pupils was closest to target.
