Tomorrow, 7.30pm, Club JJ's
If you know any Australians then you'll be well versed on how highly they regard their live music scene.
When it comes to the things they think make their country great, it's right up there with the Great Barrier Reef, Chiko Rolls and their cinema - well, up until Baz Luhrmann tried to turn the whole thing into a soap commercial.
And with Australia Day just around the corner, the people at Club JJ's have decided to get in on the act, showcasing a selection of that nation's celebrated musical ambassadors at what they've called the Oz Rock Cafe.
Headlining the night will be Noiseworks' lead singer Jon Stevens (above), with support from Mark Gable of The Choirboys and Bachelor Girl's Tania Doko. Aussie DJ Danny Faifai will warm things up before the main acts.
For Gable it's a chance to uphold his nation's long music traditions.
'The Australian music scene in the 50s was when things first started to accelerate,' Gable says. 'We had people like Johnny O'Keefe who paved the way for what was going to happen in the future. By the time we hit the 60s and 70s, we were really starting to develop our own special brand of talent.
