'Drink-driving is murder. Passengers were crushed to death, and the drunk isn't hurt'
'I tried to call them but no one responded to my phone calls,' said a colleague of the five workers killed in yesterday's horror smash as he recalled the moment before he realised his friends were dead.
The workers, along with their driver, were killed when their taxi and a container truck collided as they travelled along Castle Peak Road on the way to work yesterday morning.
Their colleague on a government construction project at Lo Wu Correctional Institution, who declined to give his name, said workers usually gathered at the Lok Ma Chau public transport interchange in the morning before sharing taxis to the remote site.
His friends, all bar benders on the project, had taken the first taxi, with the others following later.
The worker said they passed the accident on the way, but it never occurred to him that his colleagues of seven months were involved.
