Give the Disney lovers in your life a treat this Lunar New Year with a musical collection from the vaults. Disney Records celebrated their 50th anniversary with the two-CD The Music Behind the Magic: Fifty Songs Celebrating Fifty Years. A number of tracks actually predate the formation of Disney's music publishing division - the earliest track, Who's Afraid of the Big Bad Wolf, dates back to the 1933 animated short, Three Little Pigs. Other older classics from movies and television shows include Zip-A-Dee-Doo-Dah, Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious, and Mickey Mouse March. More modern favourites include Under the Sea, Beauty and the Beast, A Whole New World and recent hits like Breaking Free from High School Musical and Find Yourself from Cars. The songs from the modern animated films (from The Little Mermaid onwards) are mostly the Broadway musical versions, and not from the original motion picture soundtrack. This gives the discs an unexpected twist and well-loved songs a welcome freshness. If you're not afraid of the Big Bad Wolf (or 101 Dalmatian's Cruella De Vil or Haunted Mansion's Grim Grinning Ghosts), pick up this delightful collection of songs that any Disney fan young or old would love.
