YOUR correspondent described Jean-Michel Jarre's performance as a ''fizzler'' (South China Morning Post, March 12). I can assure you ''sparks were flying'' in the so-called Premium seats for most of Friday evening.
This area was exposed to the elements and afforded possibly the worst vantage point for the entire event.
Most acts took place at ground level and were thus impossible to view from these seats. Jarre's show was best suited to a grandstand view, not that afforded by being located close to the stage.
However these problems fade into insignificance compared to the chaos that prevailed while patrons were being shown to their seats.
Although each ticket had a specific row and seat number, it was decided that there should be free seating on each row. None of the seats had numbers anyway.
Many people ended up in the incorrect row (either deliberately or unwittingly) and several disputes developed. The stewards were unable in most cases to sort out the mayhem that followed.
