Art galleries and restaurants in Central, SoHo and Sheung Wan are doing a repeat of December's Art Sunday this Sunday, providing an opportunity to tour galleries and attend specially organised talks and presentations. Passers-by can enjoy art, brunch, talks, performances and workshops. They can also get an Art Sunday card from participating galleries, which will give them 10 per cent off at participating restaurants. The galleries and restaurants intend to make Art Sunday a monthly event. Gallery owner Karin Weber said people were often too scared to go into galleries, or felt intimidated if they didn't know about art or the relevant artist. 'The idea for Art Sunday is to bring more people into the galleries. Many feel that they don't know enough and that they will be made to feel stupid. So it is important to introduce them to art in an enjoyable experience.' Amid the economic downturn, it was also vital for gallery owners 'to get off our backsides and do something more'. The Karin Weber Gallery will have a presentation at 3pm by Priscilla Chen, an authority on Chinese furniture, about furniture in a classic scholar's house. Visitors to the New Art Lab can have their portraits drawn. And there will be canapes and drinks and a free painting workshop for children hosted by Colour My World at The Cat Street Gallery. Art Sunday activities run between 11am and 5pm. For more details, go to: www.artsunday.com.hk .
