This album was recorded at the Nokia Theatre LA Live in Los Angeles. Mayer delivers a top performance packed with passionate guitar solos and great vocals.

The album is divided into three sections. The first is an acoustic solo set of five songs. The simplicity of these songs will touch even the hardest of hearts.

The second part features the John Mayer Trio, made up of Mayer himself, Pino Palladino on bass and Steve Jordan on drums. They play an energetic set of blues pieces, with lengthy, yet riveting, guitar solos.

In the final part, Mayer plays a selection of songs from his 2006 studio album Continuum.

From his Tom Petty and Jimi Hendrix covers, it is clear the blues have had a strong influence on Mayer's work.
