Celebrities were thin on the ground this year - a rare thing for any gathering in Hong Kong where cameras are sure to be clicking away - but actress Annie Liu Hsin-you was happy to fly the flag for the city's more artistically inclined.
She might have resisted the urge to turn up in fancy dress, but Liu (pictured) still said the 10km event - which she has entered for four years in a row, now - was a lot of fun.
'It's the fourth time I've run and it was harder this year - I missed some training in the past few weeks,' she said. 'I had a little trouble breathing, but it's a good workout for me.'
The 27-year-old, Taiwan-born star of the Edmund Pang Ho-cheung-directed Exodus is a relative latecomer to running - and she had to be conned into first pounding the pavement. 'I run two or three times a week now,' she said. 'But I originally sort of got tricked into entering the event four years ago by a friend, and it wasn't until after I entered that I realised I had to train for it. I thought I was just going to show up. But that's what started me running.'
She said she took courage from her fans, who cheered her along. 'You hear them calling your name and it makes you try that little bit harder,' she said. 'I think it's a great event for Hong Kong as the crowd really cheers everyone on.'
So, any plans to tackle the marathon itself one day? 'Hmmm,' she pondered, mopping up a little sweat. 'I would say at this stage, no. Definitely no.'
