THE lending service at the Urban Council Lai Chi Kok Public Library will be suspended for two weeks to facilitate bar-coding of library items as part of a computerisation project.
When the library re-opens for public use at 2 pm on March 30, it will operate as the council's first computerised library.
During the two weeks, services for readers to return borrowed materials and to apply for computerised library cards will continue and the study room will be open as usual.
The audio-visual library and the newspapers and periodicals section will be closed.
The Electric Road Public Library in North Point will undergo the bar-coding process after the Lai Chi Kok Public Library re-opens.
The Electric Road Public Library will be closed from March 30 to April 12, to be followed by City Hall Public Library from April 13 to May 20.
