Fung, who had joined ATV in 1992, was a veteran news reader and managing editor of ATV news. He was one of about 30 employees cut from the station's news department.

It is understood that several part-time journalists and workers from the news production team were also fired.

ATV's production, administration and co-ordination department was downsized from 10 employees to five.

One employee who asked not to be named said the layoffs had not yet had an impact on operations, as the station was only focused on regular programming and had already stopped producing new shows.

The station's public relations department was also affected, losing three of the eight employees.

It is understood that the arts department, consisting of six to seven employees, was completely scrapped, though the station declined to verify the claim.
