Female biker killed after ramming into tree A woman was killed when she lost control of her motorcycle while trying to turn a corner near Kam Shan Country Park and rammed into a tree yesterday. The woman, 27, was riding with eight other friends along Tai Po Road towards the New Territories when the accident occurred at 1.15am. The woman with serious head injuries was taken to Princess Margaret Hospital where she was declared dead shortly after arrival. Witnesses should contact officers at 2773 5200 or 2773 5211. Tram runs into bus A tram hit the back of a bus, injuring nine passengers and the tram driver, who were all slightly injured. A bus going east on King's Road crossed into a tram line and slowed down, causing a tram to strike it from behind outside Island Place in North Point, at 9.40pm. Dozens trapped in lifts Dozens of people were trapped in lifts across Hong Kong due to the failure of a high-powered voltage cable. CLP Power blamed the humid weather for faults on a cable between Tai Po and Yuen Long. Fire Services received at least 51 reports of residents being trapped in lifts from 4.30pm to 6.20pm, with 25 from Kowloon, 23 from New Territories and three from Hong Kong Island. British education expo More than 7,000 people are expected to visit a two-day British education expo at the Convention and Exhibition Centre. The exhibition, which began yesterday, features 79 British education institutions, including 15 independent schools and colleges, nine colleges and 55 universities. Six Hong Kong institutions that deliver British courses have also set up booths at the exhibition.
