If you're one of those people who just can't seem to find enough space on their laptop monitors to accommodate all those browser windows and applications, Lenovo's new ThinkPad W700ds could be the perfect solution. While it already offers a formidable 17-inch widescreen display, the W700ds also has a second 10.6-inch side panel that extends the viewing area by another 30 per cent.

In addition to its dual-screen configuration, the W700ds packs the power to match most high-end desktops on the market today.

Inside is a 2.66GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor, a Nvidia Quadro FX 3700M graphics card with 1GB of memory, 4GB of DDR3 RAM, a 640GB hard disk, a DVD Super-Multi drive, FingerPrint reader, built-in wireless LAN and webcam.

But the extra screen and the souped-up configurations do cost you - in more ways than one.

First, all that power needed for heavyweight processing requires you to do some weightlifting of your own. The W700ds weighs in at a hefty 3.8kg and the unit is 5cm thick, meaning it won't fit in most laptop cases.

Second, the W700ds will set you back HK$39,888, as much as three times the price of basic 17-inch laptops like the Compaq CQ70-203TX. In other words, you could actually buy two PCs, each with a big screen, for less money.
