Riding on the success of High School Musical, Camp Rock is a feel-good coming-of-age flick for tweens. Mitchie Torres (Demi Lovato) loves music, and dreams of making it big as a rock star.
When she finds out about a summer camp for like-minded kids, she begs her mother to let her go, but her parents can't afford the fees. Until, that is, her mum's catering company is hired to cook for the campers.
Mitchie heads to Camp Rock with a notebook full of songs and a voice like a young Alanis Morissette. But when she meets Tess Tyler (Meaghan Jette Martin), whose mother is a world-famous singer, she announces that her caterer mother is, in fact, president of the music channel Hot Tunes in China.
Joe Jonas plays spoilt rock star Shane Gray who has been sent to teach at Camp Rock as a sort of community service. He overhears Mitchie singing, and makes it his mission to find the girl and make a recording with her.
Add in a new group of friends who love Mitchie for who she really is, dances and songs, hilarious cameos and DVD extras, such as interviews with the stars and a sing-along version of the film, and Camp Rock is a great viewing experience for anyone who dreams of finding fame and more about themselves.
