Heartline well placed to make light work of rivals

John Bell

Promising Heartline remains remarkably well placed in Class Three and he should have little trouble in landing his third win for the season in the final leg of Sunday's Triple Trio at Sha Tin.

With the TT only being partially won last weekend, the main prize is tipped to reach HK$13 million, and Heartline looks an outstanding banker with the benefit of Matthew Chadwick's 10-pound claim.

The Tony Cruz-trained three-year-old arrived from New Zealand a one-time winner from two starts, narrowly claimed the prize at his Sha Tin debut, before having little luck at his next two outings.

He found Craig's Dragon too good on December 14 after striking trouble, but the addition of blinkers had the desired result last time when he impressively defeated Bullish Gold and subsequent winner Lucky Red.

Heartline amazingly only rises two pounds for his last success and, after Chadwick's claim, will carry the same weight he lumped to his first success in September, which makes him a standout, despite tackling some promising types.

His main danger will come from the John Size-trained Rare Treasure, despite drawing poorly in gate 12.

The five-year-old has had niggling problems throughout his career, but looked a class act when winning his debut, before pulling up lame at his next outing when disappointing as an odds-on favourite.

He resumed two weeks ago and was right out of luck in finishing eighth to Lucky Red and he will only need some better luck in running to be right in the action.

Others capable of getting into the frame are North Hill, Packing Supreme, Happy Go Lucky and Natural Flame.

In the opening leg, it's hard to go past Energetic Boy, given he caught the eye when making his debut for the Size stable last start.

Despite failing to register a place in his first 18 appearances, it was hard not to be impressed with the way he hit the line behind Moonglow after turning for home at the tail of the field.

He was unlucky not to finish closer after striking some traffic early in the straight and will only need a touch of luck from a wide alley to take the prize. His main danger will come from Simply Joy after coming up with barrier one, while other worthy inclusions are Magi Joy, Not Quite Perfect, Monty and Optic King.

In the middle pin, Size looks to hold the aces again with impressive debut winner Appreciation.

He could not have made a better impression when winning three weeks ago and he should prove too good again, despite a rise in weight.

He went into his debut on the back of only two trials, so he should have derived nice benefit from the outing.

There is little doubt he will eventually excel over more ground, but he should gain a nice position on the back of the speed and finish over the top of his rivals.

His toughest opposition will come from All Time High, Amnesty, Blink Again and Almighty.
