IT was one of the most glittering nights ever held at the Regent ballroom - and there wasn't a single taipan or tai-tai in sight (although Keeping Posted was on hand).
The occasion was, as the invitation described it, ''the annual world cruise society dinner dance of the Sagafjord'', and nearly 300 wealthy passengers who have been taking this long voyage every year for the past 10 years took to the dance floor and proved that they could teach any young raver a thing or two.
Everybody was dressed to the nines - with enough jewellery on display to re-pay the national debt of some impoverished Third World country.
Bubbly chanteuse Migonne Fernando and her troupe of resident musicians at the Regent kept the revellers glued to the dance floor.
Until, that is, they were reminded that it was well past their usual bedtime.
