What is it? The HO2 Collagen Infusion facial at Bodywize. It uses the Maya Beauty Engineering's Oxy Life Plus machine, which combines vacuum massaging and oxygen infusion to enhance skin firmness, reduce cellulite build-up and wrinkles.
What was it like? The facial started with a cleanse and papaya enzyme peel. Then the collagen facial was divided into four steps: lymphatic drainage; firm and tone; infusion; and mask. For the lymphatic drainage, the therapist detoxified my skin with an acupressure massage. Then, a cool collagen serum was brushed on before a small rolling pin-like tool gently kneaded the skin and a suction tool massaged problem areas. After that, a pointed tool, similar to a water pick, blasted oxygen and collagen onto my face. Lastly, a Japanese silk mask with pro-collagen serum was wrapped around my face and the therapist gave me a shoulder massage.
How does it work? Collagen is the main structural protein that holds the skin together. As the skin ages, the collagen cell fullness begins to decline. In theory, by increasing the amount of collagen in skin, this should lead to a rejuvenated appearance.
Does it hurt? The suction part of the facial didn't hurt, but rather felt more like receiving dozens of strong kisses. And the infusion tool felt like an intense air pump that blew a cool and tingling mist.
What were the results? The facial and brief shoulder massage were deeply relaxing and my skin seemed refreshed and smooth. The area around my neck was noticeably tighter and less puffy.
What about the spa? The spa is split into two spaces. The original Bodywize has an English country residential feel, mixed with Asian influences. Since expanding three years ago, the company opened Retreat@Bodywize in the adjacent property, which is the main spa area.
