Boy critical after fall from window
A 13-year old boy was last night in critical condition after falling from his family's fourth-floor flat in Tai Po. The boy's grandmother told police that he had been helping with housework at their Plover Cove Garden home when he fell out of the kitchen window and landed on the first-floor podium at about 9am. The boy, suffering injuries to the head, hands and legs, was later rescued by firemen and admitted to Prince of Wales Hospital.
Security vehicle overturns
An armoured security vehicle flipped over after it crashed in Clear Water Bay Road at about 7am. The vehicle, transporting valuables, was travelling southbound along the road and lost control after passing the roundabout at Hang Hau. Police were told that the driver had tried to avoid hitting a dog that ran onto the road. A 48-year-old male passenger suffered head and back injuries, and was admitted to hospital for treatment. The other two people in the vehicle, including the driver, were unhurt. Armed police guarded the vehicle before it was towed away.
Arrest for illegal bookmaking
Police arrested a 40-year-old karaoke lounge manager for illegal bookmaking. The man was arrested at a karaoke lounge at the junction of Woosung Street and Ning Po Street in Jordan. Acting upon information, a police taskforce raided the karaoke lounge at about 2am and seized illegal soccer bets totalling HK$150,000 and other evidence.
