This year's SIHH marked an important turning point for Officine Panerai, when it unveiled a new series of movements designed and made entirely in-house.
The P.9000 family saw the addition of three new calibres to the four movements within that family.
The development of the P.9000, the P.9001 and the P.9002 reinforces Panerai's commitment to designing most of its movement components.
In the past seven years the watchmaker - originally a supplier of specialised watches to the Royal Italian Navy - has developed eight calibres.
The new calibres are equipped with a range of functions including an automatic movement, two barrels guaranteeing a three-day power reserve, a date display and a stop seconds device which allows the accurate synchronisation of the hand with an external time signal.
The new calibres are housed in the Manifattura collection, which is reserved for movements that are designed, made and assembled in-house by the watchmaker.
