The Everio X continues JVC's tradition of compact HD camcorders, but with a simpler, more elegant design and some impressive new shooting features.
While JVC is no stranger to HD quality recording, the Everio X is the first to come with a 10.3-megapixel CMOS sensor, which offers an effective resolution of nine megapixels for still images and 1920-1080i Full HD AVCHD format video.
In addition to Full HD recording, the Everio X is also one of the first compact camcorders to offer slow-motion video capture at 120, 300, and 600 frames per second (fps), so that 2.4 seconds of real time video can be played back over a span of up to 24 seconds.
The slow-motion feature only works in short bursts, however, ie a 2.4-second burst at 600 fps and 4-second bursts for 120 fps and 300 fbps and at drastically reduced video quality.
The Everio X also lets you capture a sequence of eleven 5-megapixel still images at speeds of up to 60 fps.
Like other compact camcorders, the Everio X will not come with built-in memory, but will instead use SD cards to store recordings. The problem here is that high-quality videos take up a lot of space, so you'll need at least a 16GB card to store an hour of video at the highest quality.
