VALLEY and Club have grounds for treading warily in the climax to the Hong Kong domestic season today.

The players' concerns centre on the state of the pitch at Mongkok Stadium, where triple-trophy winners Valley take on Hong Kong Football Club in the Schroders Knockout Cup final.

Valley's Isi Tu'ivai is worried about the playing surface, which has also been used for soccer matches.

Tu'ivai said: ''It's in a bad state. We were training up there this week and the ground was very hard.

''I was just running on it and my knees were sore.'' National coach George Simpkin will also be concerned as seven Hong Kong Sevens squad players are involved.

One of those players, Valley hooker Andy Fields has just recovered from a hamstring injury and make a last minute decision about playing.

But with his understudy Dave Reid unavailable, he may be forced into action.
