How to eat like a tycoon for HK$55
Do the rarefied wealthy have different tastes and preferences from mere mortals? Yes and no, Ah Pak mused recently after enjoying the rare opportunity of dining at swish Sevva's on the rooftop of Prince's Building.
A table or two away was Kwong Siu-hing, the chairman of Sun Hung Kai Properties, and one of her sons. Confounded for choice as he wrestled with the formidable menu, Ah Pak could not tell which of the Mr Kwoks was dining with his mama.
But as Ah Pak searched for something rare and exclusive that would make his visit memorable, he heard the mystery Mr Kwok order stir-fried rice noodles with beef.
Now, no doubt Sevva does a better job than the street-front food stalls that serve the dish, but Ah Pak wondered about this, and so he searched the internet to see what experts say.
The word from Ah So, the popular Hong Kong celebrity chef, is that one of the best stir-fried rice noodles with beef is to be found at Queen's Cafe at Festival Walk in Kowloon Tong. The afternoon set (it comes with a drink) costs HK$55.
So how much does it cost at Sevva? Ah Pak phoned the restaurant, and the receptionist replied: 'We do not have such a dish printed on our regular menu.'
