Metal gates return as standard for flats

Metal gates will be standard fixtures at new public rental flats under a Housing Authority U-turn. To cut costs, they had not been provided since 2003 and are not required under the Buildings Ordinance. But the authority said it appreciated tenants' concerns about security and decided to include metal gates as a standard provision on estates built from this year.
