Ten rides, with nine of them being legitimate winning chances, makes Douglas Whyte a logical and worthy favourite to win his second Jockey Challenge in the space of a week at Sha Tin on Derby day.
Even though he will probably concede his major Challenge market rival Darren Beadman ($4.50) a 'free kick' in the Derby where the Aussie rides hot favourite Collection, Whyte's ($2.20) other nine mounts represent one winning chance after another.
In fact, Beadman could be the one to oppose in this Jockey Challenge, for despite the likelihood of taking the HK$16 million feature on the John Moore-trained rising star, it's not hard to find fault with some of his other mounts.
One World (race three) has had to be freshened up after disappointing in the Hong Kong-Macau Trophy, Fortune Haven (race six) must improve significantly, Mighty Winner (race seven) has been worked sparingly, having not galloped since last Saturday and Eyshal (race eight) has topweight of 133 pounds in the Premier Plate - never an easy assignment for any horse.
Better value might be Brett Prebble at his overnight quote of $6.50.
He could start his day with a debut win for Quantum Express (race two) and then rides at least four other winning chances.
