Preserving Hong Kong's heritage and recognising the various cultures that make up its identity has recently become a hotly debated topic.
At the core of this has been the contribution made by communities that have settled here and whose members share a common heritage for at least one period of history: the days of the British Empire.
Out of this grew the Pakistan Club in Tsim Sha Tsui, known as a 'breeding ground' for Hong Kong's national cricket and hockey teams.
Pakistan Consul General Ahmad Balal said the Hong Kong government deserved immense credit for the vibrancy of the club.
He also praised the role the club played in liaising with the Home Affairs Bureau towards integration and inter-racial harmony.
The most public face of the Pakistan Club's activities is seen in sport.
