Mainland information technology giant Lenovo Group is further restructuring its operations, nearly two months after a management shake-up that put founder Liu Chuanzi back in charge.
The world's fourth-largest supplier of personal computers is being reorganised into two new business units: mature markets and emerging markets.
'Our goal is to create a faster, more streamlined organisation that can adapt quickly to target strong growth opportunities, while more effectively focusing resources on our core business,' chief executive Yang Yuanqing said yesterday.
Chen Shaopeng, who was recently named president of Lenovo's Asia-Pacific and Russia geographic division, is to head the emerging markets unit, based in Beijing. His coverage includes the mainland, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Russia, India, Korea, Turkey, Pakistan, other Asia-Pacific countries, Africa, Eastern Europe and most Middle Eastern countries.
Milko Van Duijl, who was president of the Europe/Middle East/Africa division, will now head the mature markets unit, based in Paris. This group includes the United States, Canada, Japan, Israel, Australia, New Zealand, western Europe and the company's largest global corporate accounts.
Rory Read, who was recently named president and chief operating officer, will also lead operations in Latin America, which includes Mexico.
