Actress and radio host Nancy Sit Ka-yin, known to her fans as 'Ka Yin Mama', is smiling again after a serious health scare. 'I'm so glad I made it through and I now wish to live a long life.'

Sit (below) was admitted to hospital last month after experiencing a drastic loss of weight. She was diagnosed with pancreatitis and later fell into a coma.

She will celebrate her 59th birthday on Monday and her radio station, Metro Radio, threw her an early birthday party that was attended by many of her close friends, including music composer Michael Lai Siu-tin and her fellow television co-stars.

'Since I was admitted to hospital, I have received many warm text messages from friends and the media. I believe I must be blessed,' an emotional Sit said. 'I now very much treasure the love and care of my family and friends, and I will need to stay healthy to enjoy both.' She said the illness could have been the result of overwork.

Sit began her showbiz career as a child star in the Seven Princesses alongside popular teen idols in the 1960s, including Connie Chan Po-chu and Josephine Siao Fong-fong. She quit show business after marrying businessman Shek Po-hing, but they divorced in the 80s and she raised her three children alone.
