A parrot whose cries of alarm saved a baby's life has received an award from the Red Cross.

Willie, a parrot in Denver, Colorado, US, repeatedly yelled 'Mama, baby' when the infant started to choke on her breakfast. This alerted the parrot's owner who was baby-sitting the toddler. She returned in time to save the little girl by performing the Heimlich manoeuvre.
