Brigitte Lin Ching-hsia has ruled out the possibility of taking on any movie roles for at least two years.
The usually reclusive former actress made a high-profile appearance at the Asian Film Awards last month when she presented the outstanding contribution to Asian cinema award to director Tsui Hark and his wife Nansun Shi. She was also seen this week at the premiere of Wong Kar-wai's Ashes of Time Redux.
Rumours had surfaced in recent months that Lin was meeting with filmmakers and industry friends, leading to speculation that the 54-year-old was in talks about potential film projects.
But Lin (left) said this week she had no intention of returning to acting any time soon.
'I think I will need at least two to three years to get myself mentally prepared,' she said.
That said, Lin who retired from the screen after starring in her 100th film, Ashes of Time (1994), and marrying Michael Ying Lee-yuen, then chairman of Esprit Holdings, said watching other actors made her want to be part of it again.
