Holy Family Canossian School (Kowloon City) outperformed other secondary and primary schools to win five awards, including the grand prize in the schools category, at the second Hong Kong Mobile Film Festival last month.
The festival was jointly organised by the Hong Kong Wireless Technology Industry Association and the Hong Kong Productivity Council.
The teacher in charge of the school's teams for this competition, Yuen Kin-ming, said they had done so well because they had got a good grounding in film by working on their campus television station, which was set up five years ago. It trains Primary Four to Six students to be broadcast reporters, directors, cameramen and film editors.
Primary Six student Chui Chi-ting directed the winning piece. She has been a member of the school's Little Reporter Scheme for three years.
She said the first time she conducted an interview she was very nervous. 'I had to interview my schoolmates during a school outing and I was afraid that I would say something wrong because I forgot that interviews don't have to be done in one take,' she said.
During her three years as a school reporter, Chi-ting has changed from a camera-shy girl to a talkative and outgoing teenager.
'I like to talk to different people and the one I would like to interview the most is my idol, Joey Yung,' she said.
