Number of air travellers down

Air passenger numbers dropped to 3.9 million last month, a 7.9 per cent decrease from the same period last year, the Airport Authority said. Air cargo tonnage also fell, by 19.8 per cent to 268,000, last month from the same period a year ago. Year on year, air traffic movements contracted by 7.5 per cent to 23,805.

Bangkok tours facing delay

Tours to Bangkok might be resumed only after next Tuesday, the Travel Industry Council announced after reviewing the situation in an emergency meeting with major travel agents yesterday. Protests during the Easter holiday initially forced the agencies to cancel departures until tomorrow.

Workers to lower emissions

Five thousand employees from more than 60 multinational companies and small and medium-sized enterprises will join the Hong Kong Carbon Reduction Campaign organised by the Climate Group. The participants will be asked to adopt a low-carbon lifestyle in their work and personal lives. It was hoped their efforts would cut about 9,900 tonnes of carbon emissions over 12 months.
