Fare This cafe-bistro-cake shop in the attractive new Agnes B. La Loggia lifestyle store serves light food and tea sets from 3pm to 6pm.

Ambience A sophisticated Parisian feel, with comfortable bank seats and armchairs, white tablecloths and grey-green walls. There is an outside terrace overlooking the harbour (but also the Central land reclamation site). A self-service delicatessen offers seating under the large skylights at the store's entrance.

Cost One pastry or four minipastries plus a drink is HK$88, while the Le Complet pour Deux (three open sandwiches and a minicroque monsieur, plus four sweet items plus two drinks, pictured below) is HK$188.

Who to bring A friend in need of a pick-me-up after a hard day's shopping. Turn-ons The atmosphere is cultured, friendly and refined. The croque monsieur was rich and delicious, and the open sandwiches with smoked salmon, air-dried duck magret and creamy mushroom were all enjoyable. The mille-feuille was the highlight of the desserts - the pastry was light and crumbly and the custard sweet and rich. The strawberries in peach puree and whipped cream, served in a shot glass, were heavenly.

Turn-offs Food items are on a miniature scale, and add up to a fleeting treat. We chose the set for two but there was only one of each item so we cut each, the size of a canape, in half. The iced chocolate drink made from Cacao Barry chocolate from St Domingue in Haiti was too milky, with barely a hint of chocolate.

Drinks Regular coffees and tea but also kopi luwak or civet coffee (made from beans that have passed through the digestive tract of an Asian palm civet), and a good selection of tea from luxury Paris brand Mariage Freres, such as the delightful green tea with vanilla and fruit.
