Turn-ons The bell boy rushed to carry my shopping while a waitress proffered a choice of newspapers. The surprise arrival of a three-year-old was handled seamlessly, and colouring book and crayons materialised swiftly. The afternoon tea set, a magnificent collection of bite-size sweet and savoury morsels, is coupled with luxury teas. The ultra-fresh scones (plain and lemon and ginger), with fresh cream and preserves, were melt-in-your-mouth delicious. While the sinful chocolates, panna cotta and cakes were tasty and exquisitely presented, the savoury quiches, puffs and sandwiches won the day. Teas ranged from classics, such as Earl Grey and jasmine, to organic infusions and MO's signature Mariage Freres teas. Top-ups were swift.

Turn-offs MO has a slightly split personality. Its trendiness and touches of neon lean more towards the ambience of an upscale bar than an afternoon tea venue. Nevertheless, an ideal spot if you'd like to move from a relaxed tea into a funky evening presided over by a DJ. The website promised a saxophonist to accompany tea but instead there was a trancy soundtrack.
