ONLY one bulk carrier was sold last week, indicating that buyers are unwilling to pay sellers' asking prices, according to Wallem Shipbroking (Hong Kong).
The Lode (36,071 dwt), built by Mitsui in 1978, was sold for about US$7.75 million to undisclosed buyers.
The tanker market was more active with sales of all sizes.
Idemitsu has sold its very large crude carrier Apollo Sun (254,344 dwt) for $10.7 million, to Ocean Tankers of Singapore. The vessel was built in 1976 by Mitsubishi.
The Danish-controlled product tanker Esther (28,610 dwt), built by Kherson in 1989, has been sold to Latvian Shipping for $15.5 million.
The Dutch-built sister product tankers Chretventure L and Clearventure L (30,700 dwt), have been sold for a total of $7 million. The vessels were built by Giessen-de Noor in 1974 and 1973, respectively.
