High school baseball mixed with romantic dramedy leads to all sorts of dilemmas both on and off the field in new anime Cross Game based on the latest work by master manga creator Mitsuru Adachi.
Adachi is behind such classics as Touch, H2 and Slow Step. The stories all revolve around sibling rivalry and complicated love triangles set against a backdrop of high school life. This new story promises more of the same and fans of his previous works can look forward to another well-crafted tale with wonderful dialogues.
Wakaba and Aoba Tsukishima are sisters born a year apart who both like the same boy: Ko Kitamura. The two families have businesses and live in the same neighbourhood; the Kitamuras run a sports shop, and the Tsukishimas own a baseball batting centre.
Ko and Wakaba share a birthday and have been inseparable since they were born. Everyone thinks they are destined to be together forever. The laidback Ko is an incredible batter, easily hitting 100mph-plus pitches thanks to his free practice sessions at Wakaba's parents' centre.
The younger Aoba is a naturally talented baseball pitcher and potentially better match for Ko, but she doesn't act on her feelings, and pretends to hate him.
To find out who strikes out and who makes a home run in this love triangle on the baseball diamond, Cross Game will soon be available on DVD.
