Here's a chance for local teenagers to join award-winning programmes offered by the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts.

The academy's Extension and Continuing Education for Life (Excel), which won the 2009 Hong Kong Dance Award recently, was established in 2001.

Excel received the award earlier this month for providing high-quality performing arts programmes for people of varied interests, abilities, backgrounds and age groups.

It provides summer courses for local teenagers who are interested in the arts.

More than 45,000 students have benefited from the courses so far. About 24,000 have taken dance lessons.

Now, teenagers can enrol in Excel's summer courses, which will be launched next month. There are programmes for children and adults, too. They cover arts and event management, dance, drama, drama-based executive training, film and television, music, theatre and entertainment arts, and liberal arts.
