Local health officers at the airport were not sufficiently vigilant, a Hongkonger who returned from Mexico said. Antonie Cheung Wing-yan, 22, a University of Hong Kong student who had cut short her exchange programme, was critical of the way a Department of Health staffer received her at the airport yesterday afternoon. 'She did not even wear a mask, or any protective clothing. I was not wearing a mask either, because I couldn't buy one in Mexico. She only gave me a mask after I requested one,' Ms Cheung said. 'I think it was dangerous. If I was infected, other passengers would be put at risk too.' The department had contacted her via e-mail after learning of her situation from the university. Ms Cheung, who had been studying Spanish in Guadalajara, where no swine flu case had been reported, said she was taken to a health station at the airport for a temperature check. She said she had no symptoms but would isolate herself at home for seven days, as suggested by the department.
