David Yurman has a few surprises for loyal customers in its new collection. The brand celebrated its 10th year in the watch business by launching a new look and a new complication.
Known for its history in jewellery design and long list of celebrity clientele, including big names such as Brad Pitt, Kate Moss and Renee Zellweger, the American luxury brand tried its hand at watch design 10 years ago, incorporating its signature twisted cable design into its timepieces.
'I have always been intrigued by the traditional art and precision of watchmaking,' brand founder David Yurman said, explaining that he wanted to extend his design principles to a genre beyond jewellery. 'It seemed to be a natural progression to integrate the brand's inspired passion for excellence in craftsmanship to the more complicated domain of fine timepieces.'
Like the brand's jewellery pieces, the watches are classic, clean and refined.
Evan Yurman, the son of David and Sybil Yurman and design director of the brand's timepieces, said that the new line was 'traditional with a modern twist'. The watches are designed in round cases for the first time, departing from the usual square design, but all three models still use the iconic cable aesthetic in their designs.
The new collection consists of a three-hand watch, a chronograph and the brand's first moon phase watch. The Classic Three Hand is a simple, classy option for those who want a timepiece suited to any occasion. The 43.5mm stainless steel case is integrated with the cable design and houses a movement with a 42-hour power reserve.
