Estate agent Ricacorp saw a higher-than-average number of sales in West Kowloon last month. Senior manger Thomas Tse said the company completed 81 transactions.
'April has been a good month in terms of the number of sales,' he said. 'On average, we have about 50 transactions in a month.' He added that prices had risen during April.
He said the total number of sales recorded in January was just above 30. During some months last year when the market was down, the estate agent only completed about 20 transactions.
The number of transactions last month was still short of the average number of sales in 2007, an exceptional year for the estate agent. Mr Tse said Ricacorp recorded 300 transactions in a single month that year - a record for the number of transactions completed in West Kowloon.
Although there are many keen buyers, some potential sellers are still undecided about whether this is a good time to put their flats up for sale or not.
The Arch, The Harbourside and The Cullinan offer the most sought-after harbour views, which is why the entry for these properties is generally higher than the average selling price at the Waterfront and Sorrento.
