Reis seeks stand-in mum
Former beauty queen Michele Reis prefers to hire a surrogate mother to give birth to her child.
Reis, 38, who married shipping heir Julian Hui Chun-hang last November, said she had no plans to deliver a baby herself, but would be happy to hire someone to do the job for her.
'Some people enjoy being pregnant but I wouldn't,' she said at a recent promotional event. 'If I could find an appropriate person to serve as the surrogate mother for my child, it would be perfect.'
Reis said that although the baby would be delivered by someone else, the child would still have the couple's DNA and, 'in this way, the baby will still be our offspring'.
She said she has yet to discuss her plans with her husband or his family, but she is already looking for the perfect woman in Hong Kong to be her child's surrogate mother.
Reis said she would prefer the surrogate mother to be Chinese. 'I am Chinese after all,' said the Macau-born star whose father is Portuguese and mother is Chinese. 'If I hire a foreigner to carry my child, it would look weird. But first I will have to convince my husband.'
